What Integration Actually Means

Systems are integrated when an event in one produces useful action in another. A door-forced alarm can bring up the matching camera. A valid after-hours credential can disarm only the areas that person may enter. An intrusion alarm can send associated video to the monitoring station so the response is based on a verified event.

The benefit is practical: fewer alerts are ignored and fewer gaps fall between vendors. Northeastern designs, installs, monitors and staffs these systems, so responsibility for how they work together stays with one provider.

Design and Installation

Assessment. We walk the site, understand operations and risks, and identify what actually needs protecting.

Design and proposal. You receive device locations, a functional description, fixed pricing and a schedule. If work must be phased, later stages build on the first rather than replacing it.

Installation. Our licensed technicians schedule work around your operations and cut doors over individually.

Commissioning and training. We test and document the system, then train administrators on footage, users, reports and daily operation.

Support. Ongoing service and maintenance keeps the system usable after commissioning.

Getting a Comparable Quote

Security proposals are notoriously difficult to compare, because two quotes for “a camera system” can differ by a factor of three and both be honest. To compare like with like, ask every bidder for the same things:

A device schedule listing every camera, reader, detector and controller by model, with locations — not “cameras as required.” The resolution and coverage intent for each camera position, since a cheap quote is often a low-resolution quote. Storage sizing with the retention period stated in days. Who performs the installation — employees or subcontractors — and whether they are licensed. What commissioning, training and documentation are included. Warranty terms on equipment and labour separately. Ongoing costs stated plainly: monitoring, maintenance, software licences, and any cloud subscription. And the ownership position: do you own the equipment outright, and do you receive administrative credentials?

That last question separates providers more sharply than price. Some deliberately retain administrative control so you cannot change vendors without replacing hardware. We hand over credentials and documentation as standard, and if you leave us later, the system remains yours.
